The murder of the Little Princes in the Tower, attributed to their uncle, Richard the III, is one of the most notorious royal murders in history. Join in an investigation of their deaths with historian, Georgena Duncan, through reading of The Daughter of Time a mystery novel by Josephine Tey. Is Richard III the guilty party, or not???
During the first session the class will learn of evidence by historians and how these primary and secondary sources are applied to the writing of history. There will also be information providing an English background for the War of the Roses and the murder of the little princes. At the end of this session participants will have the following week to read The Daughter of Time. During the second session, the novel and its conclusions will be discussed by the class, along with the types of evidence used in the novel. Participants will then be asked to research this evidence on their own, or in groups if you wish, using the Fayetteville and Springdale libraries, Mullins library at the U of A, and the internet prior to our last session. During the last session participants will present their collected evidence and we should have the information needed to decide: Richard III, guilty or innocent of murder most foul.
