Steal This Story. Please!

LLI members are invited to an exclusive screening of a new work in progress screening “Steal This Story. Please!” and a Q&A with the filmmakers Monday, April 7, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm in Weis Cinema, Bertelsmann Campus Center on the Bard Campus.
“Steal This Story. Please!” tells the story of the fiercely independent American journalist Amy Goodman and her battles against forces that have tried to silence her reporting over the years. It’s also a personal story about the granddaughter of an Orthodox rabbi and the humanistic upbringing that informs her work. At a time when public trust of the news media is at a record low, misinformation thrives in social media, and media conglomerates are currying favor with an authoritarian president, even as their own journalists and press freedoms are under attack. ”Steal This Story. Please!” raises questions about the role and responsibility of the media in a democracy.
