*Z3. Women Artists from the Middle Ages until Today

Art, Music & Theater | Registration opens 2/25/2026 9:00 AM

This course will cover mostly European and American women artists who have been documented and whose works are extant from the Middle Ages to the present. Biographical information, when available, will be included. A good knowledge of art history is not necessary, but is certainly useful. The presentation will be primarily chronologic and thematically organized. Feminist art historian Linda Nochlin’s influential and seminal essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” is available online and highly recommended. The PDF can be downloaded via this link.
