June 12 BILL tour of the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum
Event | Registration opens 5/22/2025 11:00 AM

Did you know that Mifflinburg was once known as “Buggy Town USA” because it was home to more than 50 buggy and sleigh makers in the late 19th century? Join us for a special group tour of The Mifflinburg Buggy Museum which is preserving the only intact carriage factory complex in the United States. Today, the site includes a modern visitor center as well as the home, factory, and showroom of William A. Heiss, a prominent buggy maker. A guided tour of the historic buildings allows visitors to explore the factory where buggies and sleighs were meticulously crafted from 1883 until 1920. Learn about the region's buggy manufacturing heritage while getting a glimpse into the social and economic culture of the period.
Join BILL for this special private tour of another historic local landmark.
This special field trip costs $10 for BILL members, $15 for non-members.
Space is limited. Registration opens on May 22 for BILL members. After June 5, registration will be open to all until the program fills.
CANCELLATION: Refunds cannot be guaranteed after June 10, but please let BILL know if you must cancel your registration in consideration of anyone who may be waitlisted for this program.
While BILL cannot provide transportation to the Buggy Museum, individuals who wish to share their contact information with others are welcome to email lifelonglearning@bucknell.edu before 7th. We will then share that information with all who register for this event to assist individuals in arranging carpooling.
