Thom Travis will present a photo show from the recent trip he organized for BILL members to India. Sixteen BILL members traveled to South India and five members of that group, plus two more companions, continued to North India. Even though Thom has visited India ten times, this trip might have been his best ever. The group members said that they loved the trip and that India constantly stimulated their sense s- visual, sound, taste, smell and intellect.
The photos, which will focus on South India but include some from the north, will depict the magnificent tropical scenery of Kerala, the amazing temples of Tamil Nadu, the impressive forts and gorgeous palaces of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, vintage, heritage hotels, the Taj Mahal and "Baby Taj," rural villages and populous cities, profound, immersive cultural and religious experiences in Tamil Nadu and Varanasi, visits to Indian families, a serene, beautiful cruise in houseboats through the Kerala Backwaters, an elephant sanctuary, delicious Indian food served on banana leaves, the skyscrapers and slums of Mumbai, Kathakali dance and Kalaripayattu martial arts in Kerala, dense traffic of diverse vehicles including rides on auto and bicycle rickshaws and motorcycle that made some travelers squeal in delight, and so much more. You will see why a number of travelers on the South India trip now want to take a second trip to North India.
Note: This is a change from the previously announced topic for this date (Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Volga River). Due to the wealth and breadth of photos Thom plans to include in this show, attendees are advised to expect the program to last up to 90 minutes. If you must leave early, we understand; please plan to sit in the back or nearer the exit.
