Knowing more of a music's origins and stories can only enhance and help color what is a fundamentally individual experience. Participants will attend the Shuffle and WindSync concerts as a part of the Utsey Chamber Music series at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. Prior to each concert, participants will meet with Dr. Lapin for a pre-concert discussion of the music to be performed; topics include style characteristics of the musical eras being performed, history of the composers on the program, a brief history of the compositions, and concert etiquette. Immediately following the free concerts, the participants will return for a post-concert question and answer session with Dr. Lapin, Brooks Center staff, and the performers themselves.

Dr. Eric J. Lapin is a Lecturer of Music in the Clemson University Department of Performing Arts. He teaches applied clarinet, chamber music, jazz history, music appreciation, and courses for the Calhoun Honors College. Along with a Bachelor and Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance, Dr. Lapin also holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership where his dissertation research focuses on music experiences in higher education.
