Whether you haven’t picked up a guitar in years, consider yourself one who “plays at the guitar,” or just curious enough to get started – this course is for you! Explore the basics: parts of the instrument; fingers, frets and strings; chords, strumming technique – all while learning to play specific melodies. Participants should bring an acoustic guitar; Draisen Edwards Music and the Guitar Shop, both in Anderson, offer starter guitar packages ranging from $150 to $199. Michael Smith has been playing guitar professionally for decades, and is co-owner of Big Daddy Guitars, appearing at regional guitar shows in South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. He is currently playing with The Trutones and Smithworks, and can been seen in venues throughout the Upstate.
