Clemson 101: Agriculture at Clemson University - Part 2

Excursion | This program is completed

OLLI continues its exploration of the agricultural heart of Clemson University in this second tour of the university’s agricultural farms. This time around, enjoy an in-depth look at the Simpson Research Farm with their beef cows and different breeds of goats! Depending on the fall breeding schedule, we may get to see some kids. Next, we visit the Starkey Swine Center, a “Farrow-to-Finish” facility with the ability to bread and raise offspring to market weight; the complex includes a boar barn, two gestation barns and three nurseries. Both farms play large parts in the education and research of Animal and Veterinary Science majors at Clemson. Participation in the Fall 2017 agricultural tour is not a requirement!

Raine Templeton-Bradley, recent graduate of Clemson University in travel and tourism and self-proclaimed animal-lover, will lead this farm adventure.

Register by February 15.
