Integrating Science and Social Change, Part 1
2 Thursdays, September 24 and October 1
11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Zoom Virtual Classroom
Tuition: $29
We tend to expect science to give us nice neat answers, while we see social issues as messy. But in key issues facing our world today, it is not possible to separate the two. This course will have two sets of two sessions, and you can sign up for either or both. This first set will discuss environmental justice and public health. This course is co-sponsored by Peace Church, an OLLI at CU Community Partner.
Pam Mack is a professor in the History Department at Clemson, specializing in History of Technology, History of Science, and Environmental History. She is a widow, a guardian for a sister with developmental disabilities, and a council member at Peace Church. Victoria Welborn has a passion for learning, teaching, and science, and spent more than 30 years running academic science libraries and information programs. In 2011 she earned a master’s degree in biological oceanography from UC Santa Cruz, where she studied harmful algae in the Monterey Bay.
