In-Person Class | Available (Membership Required)
Ken Scar’s career as one of Clemson University’s top storytellers began in Broadway scenic arts and shifted dramatically when he joined the U.S. Army at 40. Since arriving at Clemson in 2015, Ken has shared powerful stories, including those of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam veterans. He created the most shared photo in Clemson’s social media history and wrote its most viewed story. His content has showcased Clemson on U.S. military platforms more than any other college, and his iconic photo “One Embrace” was named the Department of Defense’s Military News Photo of the Year.
Ken Scar’s stories and photographs as Clemson University’s premier photojournalist have been picked up by 60 Minutes, the Washington Post, the New York Times, TIME, ESPN, USA Today, NPR, Fox News and CNN, to name a few. As a soldier he was named the 2013 U.S. Military Journalist of the Year by the Department of Defense, the highest award in that job field.
