Autumn on Lake Jocassee
Excursion | FULL (Membership Required)
Did you know that a short stretch of South Carolina, known as Jocassee Gorges, contains more species of trees than almost anywhere else on Earth? The majority are deciduous trees that sport a unique look every Spring and Fall. In Fall they can be especially beautiful. From the comfort of a pontoon boat, explore the science behind changing colors and meet some of the area’s most interesting and colorful trees - up close and personal. Be prepared to view trees in a whole new way… as living, breathing individuals. We will also visit some of the beautiful waterfalls and wild rivers for which Lake Jocassee is so famous. A South Carolina State Park entrance fee or pass is required.
Kay Wade co-owns Jocassee Lake Tours with her husband, Brooks. She has worked as a professional gardener and garden designer from the North Carolina mountains to the Florida coast and back to the mountains of South Carolina. She has written extensively on environmental and ecological challenges.
