Navigating Medical Care and Misinformation

In-Person Class | Available (Membership Required)

We live in the age of instant information, which has both advantages and disadvantages. With the world literally at our fingertips, how can we determine if the answers to questions are accurate? This is especially important regarding health-related matters. We will address some common medical misconceptions, show why they fall into the category of misinformation, and provide strategies to successfully navigate our modern information environment.

Jamie L. Wood is a lecturer in the Department of Genetics & Biochemistry at Clemson University. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi and developed an interest in medical misinformation during her tenure as an Asst. Professor of Medical Education at Duke University School of Medicine.
