The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport opened in 1962. It has only one - one! - runway, yet it is the third busiest airport in South Carolina and covers 3,500 acres. In addition to serving the thousands of customers that fly in and out every day, the airport has a major FedEx package facility, and BMW has its own cargo service which supports the easy and efficient transfer of arriving parts to and from its major manufacturing facility in Spartanburg. This excursion will include learning about how GSP came to be, and a guided tour of its facilities.
