It’s been 15 years now, Hurricane Creek Farms continues to grow and sell quality hydroponic produce, pasture raised Angus beef, and stone-ground grits and cornmeal. Their success begins with their careful preservation and cultivation of several heritage corns, from which all their produce comes. Hydroponic gardening itself is fascinating, a soil-free method of growing plants in a synthetic soil whose only purpose is to protect the growing plant and convey to it an exact mix of nutrients. Hurricane Creek grows several types of lettuce year-round and tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumbers during the winter months.
