Transylvania - Beyond Dracula
In-Person Class | Registration opens Monday, December 15, 2025 9:00 AM
Discover the fascinating history of one of Europe's most mysterious places, from its earliest settlement all the way up to the modern day. Experience tales of medieval castles, courageous knights, bloody battles and heroic tales, all taking place in the valleys and shadows of the Carpathian Mountains. The course is structured into four sessions in chronological order, and will introduce you to the unique architecture, social structure, arts and crafts, and special attributes of this semi-secluded culture, separate from anything else found in Europe.
As a first-generation immigrant from a Transylvanian family and a student of history, Hans Falk is able to provide a unique insight to the magical land of Transylvania, from its earliest history through to the present day. His family traces its ancestry to before the 18th century and were directly impacted by the Hungarian Revolution, the Romanian annexation of Transylvania, and the Communist takeover following WWII, as well as the modern revolu-tion which instituted democratic reforms. Hans has presented this course to cultural groups and has multiple manuscripts detailing life in Transylvania.
