Participants will join Terie Dreussi-Smith, Jackie Ansley and Kathy McElvenny for this full spectrum celebration of Mardi Gras on “Fat Tuesday”. The agenda includes baking, Mardi Gras mask making (while the dough rises) and a New Orleans French lesson including Mardi Gras phrases and traditions from Kathy McElvenny’s time living in NOLA. We will be making New Orleans King Cakes and Café du Monde style beignets. Each participant will paint and decorate their own Mardi Gras mask (let the glitter, feathers, jewels and hot glue roll!) to wear at the grand finale. The grand celebration will be a Mardis Gras feast complete with our baked treasures, festive masks and the sounds of Zydeco and Dixieland music. Who knows- there may be dancing! Be ready for a special surprise that bubbles – better than the cream cheese icing on the King Cake! Whoever gets the baby in their slice wins a door prize!
