The Odyssey

In-Person Class | Registration opens Monday, December 15, 2025 9:00 AM

The Odyssey is considered one of the great works of literature and its timeless themes of home, order and disorder, hospitality, fidelity, and loyalty still resonate in our society. The poem tells the tale of the Greek hero Odysseus and his journey home after the fall of Troy. He is basically one of the “coolest” men of Ancient Greece: smart, strong, attractive, brave, and either loved or hated by the gods. The story is full of adventure, danger, and suspense, in a fantastic world full of strange creatures like Cyclopes, witches, sirens, and gods. What drives the hero throughout the 10-year-long journey is the desire to go home, to see a familiar face, to kiss his wife, and to give his old dog a pat on the head. The class will be offered to “whet your appetite” to read the whole story later.
