Estate Planning, Trusts, and Family Litigation (or How to Avoid!)

In-Person Class | Available (Membership Required)

Like children, all estates are different! In this seminar, Attorney Carol Johnson will help you determine what type of estate plan is right for your family situation. You will learn the important parts of the estate plan, including the difference between wills and trusts, the importance of having Advance Directives (durable powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney and living wills) and common mistakes to look for in an estate plan. You will learn how to avoid a boilerplate, one-size-fits-all estate plan that may not be at all suitable for you! In our second session, Attorney Shaun Malone will teach you about the various types of family litigation that can (and too often does)occur and how best to avoid or resolve those. He will also explain probate litigation that may arise when you least expect it. He will also discuss family law (divorce / child custody) issues and how best to handle those while still protecting your estate assets.

Malone, Esq., is the newest attorney associate at Carol Johnson Law Firm, P.A. Shaun has a background in both estate planning and litigation, having worked at an all-purpose law firm in Easley for several years before joining the 13th Judicial Circuit as a Solicitor. Asa newer member of the firm, Shaun brings a depth of litigation knowledge and skills which has allowed us to expand our offerings to our clients to include family law, civil litigation, probate and trust litigation.
