From Kabul to Clemson: An Afghan Culinary Journey

Join Clemson’s Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR) for a warm and interactive cooking class. The session celebrates Afghan foodways through hands-on culinary storytelling. Participants will learn Afghan cooking basics, watch a live chef demonstration, and connect with peers over a shared meal. You will also take home recipe cards to recreate the featured dish.
Dr. Angela Naimou is an Associate Professor of English at Clemson University, where she specializes in contemporary literature, migration, and international human rights. An award-winning author and journal editor, she explores how storytelling impacts global justice. Dr. Naimou is the founding faculty instructor and mentor for Clemson’s Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR), a transformative campus initiative supporting refugee resettlement and community welcome. Dr. Naimou will be accompanied by a local Afghan community member.
