Joy, trauma, intimacy, loss, humor, love, and nature – poetry expresses the light and dark of the human experience. Come join us to share the poems that move you, to discover new voices that speak to you through the magic of poetry.

Forget the old chestnuts of Longfellow and Shakespeare, and get ready to explore the satirical and soul-felt, the compassionate and wrathful poems from the poets of our time. Likely poets might include any whose work is available online through the Poetry Foundation, etc. such as: Mark Doty, Billy Collins, Louise Gluck, Joy Harjo, Sharon Olds, Wendel Berry, Mary Oliver, Robert Hass, Naomi Shihab Nye, etc.

Format: Participants will be required to select a poet for a brief presentation, which includes prior sharing of 3-4 poems along with discussion questions.

Resources/Expenses: No costs are anticipated, but all participants must have access to both a computer and printer. Coordinators will provide the online sources for the poets and their poems.
