Many people view growing older as a process of diminishment and loss. What if we were to approach it, as mindfulness teacher James Baraz proposes, with “a spirit of adventure, opening to the next chapter of our life with celebration and discovery?” What kinds of support would we need to step into this adventure with curiosity and a sense of purpose and joy? In this class, we will engage in a variety of mindfulness practices to harvest the gifts of the journey we’ve been on up to this point and explore intentions for conscious aging in the next phase of our lives. This exploration will be guided by questions, such as “What is the calling of my heart now? What brings me joy?” This class is an extension of the offering, Peeling the Tangerine, Calming the Restless Mind. It is not necessary to have taken the Tangerine class to enroll in Conscious Aging.

Format: The coordinator will introduce mindfulness practices and relevant readings, followed by direct experience and discussion.

Resources/Expenses: There are no additional expenses or resources required. Various resources will be recommended for those wishing to learn more.
