Theater Conversations
Zoom Video Conference | This program is completed
Note: The first play is March 17.
Do you like to see live theater? Do you like to talk about it afterwards? Then join our popular Theater Conversations course! This session we will feature a comedy, The Inferior Sex at Trinity Rep; the comedy Bad Jews, about family, faith and the complications of identity and Tony nominated The Children at the Gamm; Witch, a comedic retelling of a Jacobean drama and Red Velvet, which tells the true story of an African American actor in 1833, both at the Burbage; and one play at the Wilbury, Tony Award winning Indecent by Paula Vogel, which takes place in 1972.
Format: Participants will attend a performance of each play. Each class member is expected to present material or lead a short, lively class discussion on aspects of a play, including production features, themes, the playwright’s background and intent as well as the director’s interpretation. Actors or other members of the theater companies will join the class on several occasions to enrich our understanding of the plays and the production process.
Resources/Expenses: We have special $25 group pricing for the Trinity show. Prices for other theaters are $25 or less for most dates.
