Theater Conversations

Class | This program is completed

Five theaters, seven plays, visitors from the plays, lively conversations, and we’re back face-to-face in the Temple! Does this sound great? Then join our popular Theater Conversations course! We will feature two plays at Trinity (The Good John Proctor, a new look at the lead up to the Salem Witch Trials, and Sarah Ruhl’s Becky Nurse of Salem), two at the Gamm (Pulitzer Prize winning Top Dog Under Dog and Hangmen, a dark comedy-mystery), one at the Burbage (Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet), one at the Wilbury (the world premiere of 22/16: The Remix of a Global Experiment), and one by Brown/Trinity MFA (Obie award winning One Flea Spare).

Format: Participants will attend a performance of each play. Each class member is expected to present material or lead a short, lively class discussion on aspects of a play, including production features, themes, the playwright’s background and intent as well as the director’s interpretation. Actors or other members of the theater companies will join the class on several occasions to enrich our understanding of the plays and the production process.

Resources/Expenses: Total expenses of $140 for most dates, including a special group rate at Trinity.
