Inspirational Women Leaders

Join us as we learn about women who have advanced the cause of democracy, human rights, civil rights and peace as well as others who have made significant contributions to the arts, science, technology and business. Some are women from the recent past who paved the way and served as role models for today’s generation of women leaders and others are contemporary women serving as today’s leaders.
Format: Each week we will discuss an individual woman of note, or a group of women leading the call for change in a specific area, such as women in sports. Each participant will provide information and lead a discussion covering the lives of these women, the circumstances that brought them into leadership and their impact on the world around them.
Resources/Expenses: Information, biographies and memoirs are available on the internet or through the library. No additional expenses.
Margaret Lawrence
Margaret Lawrence has been a management consultant and writer. Margaret started cell phone photography in LLC’s iPhonography class. She is now an enthusiastic cell phone photographer and photo editor. In addition, she has coordinated several LLC courses including last fall’s course on women.
Sidney Okashige
Over the last ten years, Sidney Okashige has enjoyed co-coordinating more than a dozen LLC courses and treasures the wonderful friendships she has made taking and coordinating courses. One of her favorite courses has been knitting, which she has taken repeatedly for many years.
