Let’s get to know LLC’s new neighborhood!
LLC's Cultural Committee is offering a one-hour walking tour led by Ginny Leslie. The tour will highlight the 15 homes from the pre-Revolutionary period in the Village. In 1638, just two years after Roger Williams settled in Providence, he purchased several thousand acres in today's Cranston from a local Sachem. Four of his followers headed south and established a gristmill and sawmill at the falls. None of the four men and their families lived near the falls but settled further upstream.
When Pawtuxet was nominated in 1974 as Rhode Island's first village on the National Register of Historic Places, it was praised for its "remarkable collection of buildings from the colonial era to the twentieth century".
Registrants will meet at 10:15 AM in Cranston. The walking tour starts promptly at 10:30 AM and lasts about an hour.
There are many restaurants in the area so after the walk you can stay for lunch. (Meeting location, parking details, and a list of recommended restaurants will be provided to registrants later.)
$15.00 (limit 22 members). No refunds for cancellation.
