Are you ready for the celebration of America 250 and the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Join this class for an understanding of the history, background, and motivations that led to the development of this foundational document. Our class will be an examination of that document and the history of the period, and we will consider the economic, intellectual, and cultural factors that contributed to our break with the British Empire.

Format: Participants are expected to select a topic for presentation and discussion. Among many others, some suggested topics include: the influence of Enlightenment thinkers, the writing of Thomas Paine, and specific grievances of the Founding Fathers.
