Theater Conversations, Section 2
Class | Registration opens 7/27/2026 9:00 AM
NOTE: Both sections run at the same time with the same content.
Join our popular Theater Conversations course as we attend a wide variety of plays, discuss them, learn from each other, and enjoy visitors from the productions! We will feature The Smuggler (Ronan Noone) and A View From The Bridge (Arthur Miller) at Gamm, Getaway Driver (Deborah Salem Smith and Charlie Thurston) at Trinity, TBA at Burbage, and TBA at Wilbury.
Format: Participants will attend a performance of each play. Class members are expected to present material or lead a short, lively class discussion on aspects of a play, such as production features, themes, the playwright’s background and intent as well as the director’s interpretation. Actors or other members of the theater companies will join the class on several occasions to enrich our understanding of the plays and the production process. Section 2 will join Section 1 at these times.
Resources/Expenses: Total expenses of about $140 for most dates, including the special Trinity group rate.
Section 1 Coordinators: Eric Cohen is a long-time member of Theater Conversations, Cell Phone Photography Club and other classes at LLC. A retired IT manager for a public library, Eric has enjoyed working in several other capacities throughout his career. He majored in theater at Hofstra University. Bobbie Cohen moved to Providence from New York with her husband, Eric, five years ago. She credits LLC with making the experience delightful. Besides Theater Conversations, she has enjoyed taking many art courses at LLC. Although she hasn’t been published, she writes novels and short stories and is looking forward to facilitating Theater Conversations and seeing the new season’s plays.
