Power of the Creative Arts to Nourish Body, Mind, and Spirit

Class | Registration opens 7/27/2026 9:00 AM

You are invited to explore how expressive movement, visual journaling, music, and poetry can support and enhance individual and collective wisdom, allow for play, and promote joy. In this class, we will use the creative arts to discover ways to heal the body, calm the mind, and enliven the spirit. Authentic self-expression will be allowed to have a safe outlet during this supportive class time. You don’t have to have any experience with the arts to take this class.

Format: The coordinator will guide the class in creative arts activities. Participants will explore the languages of the arts—individually, in pairs, and in the large group. No presentations are required.

Resources/Expenses: Each participant should purchase an 11x14” drawing notebook with blank pages. (You can buy such a notebook at Blick Art Materials, 200 Wickenden Street, Providence OR at their online store. Look for the Strathmore 400 Drawing Pad 11x14” 24 sheets for $9.00.)

Coordinator: Kate Austin was a faculty member in the Creative Arts in Learning Graduate Program at Lesley University for 38 years and a faculty member of the Expressive Arts Institute at Salve Regina University.
