Interested in learning about the major events and personalities that shaped history in our unique State? This could be the course for you, whether you’re a new arrival or on old timer. We’ll explore the colonial settlement, the Revolutionary War, the slave trade economy, the birth of the industrial revolution, the excesses of the Gilded Age, and the 20th century reshaping of Rhode Island. Along the way we’ll meet Roger Williams, Anne Hutchinson, Samuel Slater, Nelson Aldrich, Sarah Updike Goddard, John Brown and many others. Join us to develop a better understanding of this great place we call home.
Format: Collaborative model where participants are expected to select a topic for research, presentation and discussion.
