F25-1201P JOIN THE LINE AND DANCE

Class | FULL (Membership Required)

In line dancing, a group of people arranged in one or more lines or rows dance a repeating sequence of steps. These lines usually all face in the same direction, or less commonly face each other. Line dancing can be choreographed to accommodate groups of varying sizes, ages, and abilities, and dancers who come alone can expect to make new friends. The precise origins of this style of dancing are unclear, but they are thought to have originated from European settlers in the late 1800s. Ann Komelasky will introduce you to the history of line dancing, its climb to popularity in the USA, and the terminology of the different dance steps. You will learn two easy line dances and practice them in class. You will also receive resources on local NOVA venues where you can dance and continue to take classes.
