S26-0312P CLERGYWOMEN TODAY: THREE DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES
Class | Available (Membership Required)
The 1970s marked a transformative period for American women, particularly in religious leadership. This era saw the ordination of the first female Lutheran pastor (1970), Reform rabbi (1972), and Episcopal priest (1974), breaking longstanding gender barriers in faith communities. In this panel discussion with Pastor Katie, Rabbi Lizz, and Mother Philene, we will examine their religious backgrounds, motivations for entering the ministry, challenges encountered, current issues in their roles, and perspectives on how their experiences as women may differ from those of their male counterparts.
This promises to be an engaging and insightful conversation on the evolving role of women in religious leadership today.
