The Tapestry of Your Life

Class | Available (Membership Required)

After the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, artists crafted The Bayeux Tapestry, a 230-foot embroidered cloth telling the story of the events leading up to the famous Battle of Hastings.  Inspired by The Bayeux Tapestry, Sandra Sawatzky, a Canadian artist, spent nine years crafting a 220-foot tapestry titled The Black Gold Tapestry, which depicts the discovery and use of fossil fuels. Of course there are many other tapestries depicting all sorts of human stories.  In this workshop, we will discuss tapestry-worthy moments in our lives, and we will design a few panels for tapestries (stick figures are fine) that portray moments and events the tell the stories of our lives.
