Jessie, Lilly & Sharlot: An Arizona Territorial Trio

This 90 minute course explores the lives of Jessie Benton Fremont, Elizabeth (Lilly) Fremont, and Sharlot Hall. These three women called territorial Yavapai County and the community of Prescott their homes at different times in their lives. Jessie Benton Fremont was the wife of territorial governor John C. Fremont. The Fremont's daughter Lilly served as the defect first lady of the Arizona Territory when Jessie fell ill and returned to New York. Sharlot Hall arrived in Yavapai County with her family after they left their Kansas home and traveled on the famed Santa Fe Trail. Their lives provide historians with a glimpse into life in the 19th and 20th centuries in Arizona.
