These courses are the creation of Dr. Sabiha Parveen and her colleagues. This eight-week program will include in-person and online group-based activities aimed at improving and maintaining some of the critical cognitive and communication skills (including auditory attention, working and short-term memory, problem-solving and language) required for safety, independence and engagement in daily activities. These group sessions are available for anyone who is interested in learning ways to keep their brain active and prevent cognitive decline.
Sabiha Parveen
Sabiha Parveen, PhD, is an Associate Professor, Graduate Program Director of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Oklahoma State University and a licensed speech-language pathologist. Her bachelor’s degree is in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Calcutta in India, where she worked as a speech pathologist and audiologist. She earned her PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She is passionate about community building and started a local intervention program for Parkinson’s patients and their families that centers on communication, art, nutrition and exercise.
