Step into the world of Merchant Ivory, the legendary filmmaking trio—producer Ismail Merchant, director James Ivory and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. Known for their exquisite literary adaptations, rich visuals and refined storytelling, their films have left a lasting mark on cinema. This course explores eight of their iconic works, including A Room with a View, The Remains of the Day, and Howard’s End, along with the recent documentary Merchant Ivory (2023). Vickie Sturgeon
Vickie Sturgeon, PhD, is a graduate of the Radio-TV-Film program at OSU. She studied broadcasting and motion picture history at the University of Kansas. Motion Pictures of the 1930s and 1940s are her particular interest. Dr. Sturgeon taught mass communication and media courses for twenty years at Tennessee State University in Nashville. She has worked for several public radio stations including KOSU and Minnesota Public Radio and is involved in historic preservation including work at the Sheerar Museum in Stillwater.
