S26S-121 Discovering Birds
Stillwater | Registration opens 1/6/2026 12:00 AM CST
What’s so great about birds? There must be something, because a recent estimate suggested there are 96 million birders in the US, and they are generating $279 billion in annual economic impact. If you would like to know why so many are riveted by birds and learn how you can get in on the exciting and enduring pastime that is birding, then this course is for you. In Part One we’ll cover the basics of how to notice, identify, and share observations of the birds around you. This will include technologies that can rapidly build skills and help make birding more accessible to all. In Part Two we will focus on things we can do for birds, ranging from bird feeding and gardening tips to international treaties for bird conservation. Come with me and let’s discover birds!
- Materials: Students will purchase their own materials (this allows those who have some or all to not have to re-purchase); list of needed items will be provided online prior to enrollment beginning.
