[NEW COURSE] [MULTI-PART SERIES] This is the first in a three-course sequence on birds. We will cover topics including: why study birds, resources for bird watching, citizen science, bird diversity, mechanisms of natural selection, sexual selection, and speciation, life history variation, ecological interactions, range dynamics, causes of rarity and extinction, and conservation. Parts 2 and 3 will focus, respectively, on behavior and functional biology.

John Jaenike

John Jaenike recently retired from the University of Rochester, where he taught Introductory Biology, Ecology, and various graduate-level courses. He did research on various questions in evolutionary ecology, using primarily insects as research subjects.
