[NEW CLASS] We will look at the men behind the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, their ruthless ambition, staggering greed, and ruthless ambition. Their battle to control the railroads sparked stock market frenzies, panics, and crashes, and influenced presidential elections. These Gilded Age Robber Barons manipulated our economy in the decades before government oversight or control.  Audio/Visual, Lecture
