W12M Frankenstein: The Novel (Hybrid/In-Person)

In-Person | Available (Membership Required)

[NEW COURSE] Totally unlike any of the movies! Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, is a major work of Romantic philosophy, standing on the shoulders of her famous father, mother, and husband, Percy Bysshe. It is certainly a relevant cautionary tale about science, but, more deeply, it is a critique of Romantic idealism about human nature and social development.   Enrollment Limit: 25  Discussion, Lecture, Reading

  • No class January 20.
