[NEW COURSE] This course explores the musical legacy of one of the American popular song’s most creative vocal interpreters, Ella Fitzgerald. Her singing represents a blend of technical mastery, emotional depth, and playful improvisation, making her a timeless figure in the world of music. The course will feature an in-depth survey, from her first recording I’ll Chase the Blues Away (1935) to her last The Nearness of You (1989).  Audio/Visual, Discussion, Lecture
