W42Th BRICS Expansion and the Future of World Order (Hybrid/In-Person)

In-Person | Available (Membership Required)

Presented by Kate Washington—Adjunct Professor, University of Rochester’s Simon Business School

In October 2024 at the invitation of Vladimir Putin, the founding members of BRICS—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—formally welcomed five new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). BRICS is an important global economic evolution that is significant to the current geopolitical landscape, and we will discuss the historical and emerging significance for the participating countries and the implications for the challenge to the dominant currency.
