F61Th Remarkable Rochesterians: Celebrating 15 Years of Local Legends (Hybrid/In-Person)

In-Person | Available (Membership Required)

Presented by Jim Memmott, Retired Reporter and Senior Editor, Democrat and Chronicle and Journalism Instructor, University of Rochester

For more than 15 years, journalist and storyteller Jim Memmott has been uncovering the hidden heroes, community builders, and fascinating figures who have shaped Rochester’s identity—past and present. In his long-running Remarkable Rochesterians column for the Democrat and Chronicle, Jim has celebrated individuals whose lives and legacies deserve the spotlight even if they never sought it. In this engaging and reflective talk, Jim will share highlights from his ever-growing list, discuss how he finds and researches these compelling stories, and explore why local history—and the people  who make it—still matter today.
