W09M Transgender: Fact, Fiction, and the Current Environment (Zoom)

This class will cover what it means to be transgender throughout history and today: how transgender individuals are being treated under the current US administration, bathroom bills, transgender individuals in sports, and the current hysteria and transphobia in society. We will also cover medical interventions, dysphoria, and how transgender individuals try to alleviate their distress.
Christine Thrasher
Chris Thrasher is a retired software engineer who, over the course of 35 years, did research and product development in document understanding and artificial intelligence. She is a transgender woman who is involved with the local LGBTQ+ community and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge.
