[NEW CONTENT] This Civil War course will meet at the crossroads of political ideology, military history, military strategy and tactics, literature, oratory, journalism, photography, song, and poetry—all contributing elements in our attempts to better understand the War of the Rebellion, the effects of which continue to the present and shape our Union. We will humbly study the military actions of Grant, Meade, Lee, and Longstreet and also peruse the words of Lincoln and Whitman, Emily Dickinson and Frances Watkins Harper, William Seward and William Tecumseh Sherman, Ambrose Bierce and Stephen Vincent Benét, and others.
