[NEW COURSE] We’ll consider eight short Sherlock Holmes stories in which Holmes decides to let the perpetrator go free. Holmes claims “I think there are certain crimes which the law cannot touch.” We’ll consider his personal sense of morality and its implications for the tradition of detective fiction. Stories will include A Scandal in Bohemia, Silver Blaze, The Abbey Grange, and The Blue Carbuncle. The course leader will provide PDFs of the stories so no book purchase is necessary.
