Zoom | FULL (Membership Required)

[NEW COURSE] Common Sense, Thomas Paine’s polemic written 250 years ago had a powerful impact on the thinking of American colonists. Its 150,000 copies drove many readers to the side of separation from England and from King George III, the III. After a brief study of Paine’s life, we will closely read his pamphlet, analyze it, and determine how, after all these years, it might speak to us anew in these days of growing turmoil. Some time may be spent on his other great work: The Rights of Man. Enrollment Limit: 30  Audio/Visual, Discussion, Reading
