[NEW COURSE] Whether you’re planning a trip to China or simply want to connect with Mandarin-speaking friends, this beginner course will help you build practical conversation skills from the very first class. Designed for learners with little or no previous experience, the course emphasizes everyday communication. You’ll learn useful words and phrases for introducing yourself, making small talk, ordering food, shopping, asking for directions, and handling common travel situations with confidence. Helen McCabe
Helen McCabe has a Ph.D. in international education and an MA in East Asian Studies. Her work focus for three decades has been working with children with autism and their families in China. She now works supporting a program for Chinese families of children with autism in NY. She studied Chinese in college and in China in the 1990s and has travelled to China 30 times, often living there a few months to a year at a time. Helen uses Chinese daily for work and volunteering. She has also taught Chinese to university students and is excited to share her love of the language.
