Cultural landscapes are opportunities to study and interpret past relationships between people, cultural systems, and the environment. The landscape that today is part of the Ozark National Forest was shaped by past human use, varying in intensity and extent over time. One such cultural landscape is the Mulberry River valley in Franklin and Johnson counties.
Course will include stops along the Mulberry River Interpretive Driving Trail (Hwy 215 between Cass and Oark) with discussion of past and present human uses of the landscape by Dr. Mary Z. Brennan (Archeologist, Ozark-St. Francis NFs) and Matt Pfeifler (Recreation Manager, Ozark-St. Francis NFs).
