From influenza to the measles to COVID-19, there have been a number of emergencies throughout our state’s history that have endangered the public health of Arkansans. This presentation will highlight a few of the diseases that have affected the state and how health officials confronted and combated them.

Timothy Nutt
Tim Nutt is currently employed as the Director of the Historical Research Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Previously, he was employed as the Head of Special Collections at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and founding Deputy Curator of the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies at the Central Arkansas Library System. He also served as the founding Managing Editor and Staff Historian of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture while at the Butler Center. He is a past president of the Arkansas Historical Association and a Certified Archivist.
