Yoga for Healthy Aging

There is a solution for improving the body changes that come with aging. Healthy aging requires one to systematically stretch and condition muscles that will protect the aging joints. The slow, exact movements practiced in Yoga will enhance strength, eliminate joint stiffness, restore flexibility and range of motion, improve agility, and improve balance. These key areas - strength, flexibility, agility and balance - are the foundations of healthy living and living without the morning shuffle of pain and stiffness.
Viknisvari Willis, a certified Yoga instructor who teaches at the Arkansas Yoga Center, will guide participants in the practice of Yoga, emphasizing that Yoga means union with our mind and body. Focus will be on breathing and some meditation techniques that help calm the nervous system.
Dress in clothing in which you can move freely. Optional suggestions for participants to use in class are a yoga mat, yoga blocks, straps and a blanket or pillow.
Vicky Willis
Viknisvari Willis is a certified Yoga instructor. She has taught yoga for OLLI for the past three years. She will guide participants in the practice of Yoga, emphasizing that Yoga means union with our mind and body. Regular yoga practice improves flexibility, strength, mobility, endurance and balance. The class will focus on mindful movement, deep stretches, balance, breathing, and meditation techniques that help calm the nervous system. Vicky will plan the class based on the participant’s health history and physical condition. This is a safe and mindful yoga practice.
